Hazlefield House is a charming grade B listed Georgian House set in approximately four acres of gardens and grounds, dating from 1835 and before.
Hazlefield House is situated in the area of Dumfries and Galloway known as 'the Stewartry', on the Scenic South West Coast Route 300 and from its elevated position, enjoys outstanding views across rolling farmland and the Solway Firth to the mountains of the Lake District.
Hazlefield House stands in peaceful mature garden grounds with fine trees and shrubs, affording guests great shelter and privacy.
To the south, there are magnificent views over the terraced lawn and Solway Firth to the distant Lakeland peaks. The wooded grounds and sweeping lawns provide an ideal setting for a quiet getaway.
Although the present building dates to the early 1800s, there has been a house on the site of Hazlefield for over 450 years. There is a tradition that when Mary, Queen of Scots fled from Scotland in 1568 she spent her last night on Scottish soil at a farmhouse known as ‘Hazlefield’.
We have two double rooms available, Solway, a large room with a Super King Sized Bed and Port Mary which has a King size four poster bed. Both rooms are en-suite and enjoy the stunning views over the grounds.
Breakfast is served in our dining room with each room having their own table. There are views over the lawns and to the coast beyond. The room is centrally heated but has a log burner for those colder days.
We offer a hot Vegetarian Breakfast, as well as a Full Scottish breakfast; Bacon, Sausage, Black Pudding or Haggis, free range eggs and tattie scones, a choice of cereals and of course porridge.
• Meat products are sourced from local Butchers.
• Organic whole milk comes from Torr Farm situated just outside Auchencairn.
• We bake our own bread and make our own Marmalade and preserves which we serve when available.
• Guests may enjoy our honey which comes from hives situated on the property.
We want your stay at Hazlefield House to be the best it can be and would ask that if you have any special dietary requirements (vegetarian, vegan, gluten free) please contact us to discuss these before hand and we will do our best to accommodate.
