Originally an artist’s studio and newly renovated in 2014 to a very high standard throughout, High Glencloy House is a wonderful place to stay. It successfully couples modern convenience with a real sense of tradition to create a warm and welcoming family home. Benefiting from picturesque views both up and down the valley, yet just a very short distance from Brodick with all of its amenities, High Glencloy House is an ideal base for sharing with friends and family.
The house itself is spacious and well equipped with attention to detail throughout and having the added advantage of a large boot/utility room at the entrance, is ideal for rucksacks and golf clubs alike. There is plenty of space to relax here, including the large lounge with its wood burning stove and window seating area looking out onto the garden. Guests can also choose to sample some of the DVDs from the extensive DVD library or perhaps try out some of the games on the Xbox, also available for everyone to use.
Families to High Glencloy House will have no shortage of things to do whilst on holiday. The Auchrannie Resort is just over a mile away and is an easy walk along the flat path. Here there are two swimming pools, the play barn for young children and an outdoor activity centre for both children and adults alike. There are also a wide range of walks direct from the house, including one up the glen to the waterfalls and a cross country hike to Lamlash with great coastal views. However, for those looking for a more challenging day out, access to Goatfell peak and the Three Beinns is just a very short drive from the house. Keen golfers can select from one of the seven scenic courses around the island and cyclists can either take a trip around the island or perhaps try out one of the local mountain bike trails.
After a day enjoying exploring the island, guests can choose to either relax and dine at home in the family kitchen, entertain in the atmospheric dining room or, indeed, barbecue in the garden whilst enjoying the sunset. There is also the option of making the short trip into Brodick to sample one of the wide range of restaurants.
High Glencloy House is a tranquilly located, beautifully renovated and welcoming place to stay, as well as being an ideal base from which to explore all that the Isle of Arran has to offer.
