Hillcrest is a lovely, imposing Victorian villa set on the southerly edge of Wigtown - Scotland's Booktown in a quiet residential area. Built in 1875, the house is in keeping with its age, but with modern facilities.
Set on the southern edge of town looking out over Wigtown Bay & the Solway Firth, Hillcrest was built in 1875 as a private house. It is an imposing Victorian villa retaining many original features, which we have sympathetically brought up to date to provide all the modern facilities expected by guests today, whilst retaining the charm and character of the house. All six of our rooms have ensuite facilities, hospitality tray featuring a great range of Fairtrade products, LCD TV, digital radio alarm clock, hairdryer & lovely bathroom essentials from Pure Lakes. We offer free wi-fi throughout the house, lockable bike storage, & plenty of onsite parking. All rooms bar Maxwell & Spark are pet friendly.
We offer comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation, together with hearty 'home-cooked' evening meals (usually 5 nights a week). Our passion for food is what drives us to focus on the fantastic range of local produce we have hereabouts and a large proportion is provided by local suppliers.
Whether your perfect break includes Dark Sky star-gazing, bird watching (several of our rooms look directly to the RSPB Baldoon), walking, cycling, chocolate making, beaches, gardens like Threave, Castle Kennedy or Logan, golf at one of the 20 odd courses within a one hour drive, fishing, or just relaxing and browsing the Wigtown's many bookshops, stay with us, eat with us, and share with us the beauty of Galloway.
