Hollins Cottage stands in a ¾ acre woodland plot in the Glenkens district of the Galloway Hills. It was originally a stone-built 3-room house which has been extended over the years and now offers comfortable and well-equipped accommodation for 5*. There is a wood burning stove, satellite TV, a good wifi connection, games chest, books and dvds - and for warm summer evenings, a barbeque.
The cottage is within easy reach of the beautiful Loch Ken and its attractions, and the food town of Castle Douglas. A half hour drive takes you to the Solway Coast, Glen Trool, or to the artists’ town of Kirkcudbright. For walkers and bikers, “The Southern Upland Way” runs through the nearby village of Dalry, and there are many local trackways and walks, including the famous “Raiders Road”. Star gazers will appreciate the lack of light pollution as Hollins is in a designated International Dark Sky Park.
