You will love the wonderful location of the three self-catering properties at the heart of Lunan Bay, on the estuary of the Lunan Water, overlooking the Red castle. Located immediately beside the grass-covered sand dunes, Inverlunan is so close to the sea that the breaking waves can be easily heard.
The larger house (Inverlunan Beachside) has plenty of space for 8 visitors, with two double bedrooms, and two twin bedrooms. One of the double bedrooms is on the ground floor, and may be suitable for the less mobile visitor. Beachside's second double bedroom has a fantastic view of the Lunan Water and the ancient Red Castle, in dramatic silhouette. Beachside's twin bedrooms are equally comfortable for adults or children. The large open-plan kitchen/dining room, separate living room with access to a paved sun porch, plus two conservatories, make it ideal for families and groups of friends.
Alternatively, Inverlunan Riverside is a smaller house, with two en-suite bedrooms (one is a double bedroom, the other has twin beds.) Both bedrooms have fine views to the south, overlooking the Redcastle and Lunan Water.
A third holiday unit is available at Inverlunan, which is very popular with visitors: The Fishermens' Bothy. This is a genuine former commercial salmon fishermens' working bothy used in past times for shelter and for storage of nets, ice and freshly-caught salmon. The Fishermen used to work fish nets in Lunan bay. More information about the bothy can be provided. It is for two guests. It is modernised and comfortable with all facilities.
The larger houses, Beachside and Riverside, can be booked individually, together, or in combination with a third comfortable self-catering unit (Fishermans Bothy) to accommodate a total of up to 14 or 15 guests.
The extensive grounds outside the enclosed garden areas and all of the surrounding land, beach, woods, riverside and dunes are easily accessible. There is a good café/restaurant just a few hundred yards away that caters for visitors to Lunan Bay. Other eateries and shopping facilities can be found in Montrose and Arbroath, both a short drive away.
The location of these delightful holiday houses, immediately next to the fantastic beach and the Lunan Water (the small river), is quite stunning. Lunan Bay is well known in Scotland as a beauty spot, and the beach itself has previously won awards for the best-kept beach in Scotland. Many people enjoy Lunan bay for winter walks and the changing light and sea-water levels. There is something for everyone with fresh water, sea water, sand, pebbles, ancient castle, woods, dunes, flowers, wild animals, birds, fish, and even occasionally dolphins are reported.
Many activities are available locally, include golf, surfing, fishing, horse-riding, photography, bird-watching, etc., while the location is perfect as a base for for touring Tayside, Angus and the Glens, the North East, and the Grampians Regions of Scotland. Shops, supermarket, railway, bus station, all support facilities, pub, restaurants, 4 miles.(Montrose) and 7 miles (Arbroath).
