Overlooking a tidal beach and with beautiful views out to North Uist, the bunkhouse provides accommodation for 8 peoplein a large bunkroom for 4, and 2 smaller rooms for 2. It has underfloor heating, a comfortable kitchen-living room with a peat burning stove, a drying room, 2 shower rooms and a bike shed.It is an environmentally friendly building with a heat pump,recycling and composting facilities and a water butt. the bunkhouse is a 10 minute walk from the ferry to Harris, the causeway to North Uist and the local shop and bistro. It is an ideal stopping off point for those walking or cycling the Heridean Way.
From the bunkhouse you can walk or swim in the Cockle each, enjoy our native colony of wading irds or stride up the hill to Beinn a''Chlaidh with its impresive standing stone. There you can enjoy spectacular views of the Sound of Harris and the islands beyond. Farther afield you can have a walk on the 3 mile long West Beach or visit our Historical Centre with its well informed volunteers.
