The history of Broughty Ferry has always been linked closely with that of Dundee as a place and resort, later as a haven for the wealthy and later still as a residence for commuters. The annexation of Broughty Ferry by its near neighbour, Dundee, on 5 November 1913, has renewed interest in the history of the former burgh.
