A cosy, open-plan Cabin for two, overlooking the sea, with all that you need for a relaxing stay on Skye. Your walking and cycling begins at the door, use it as a welcoming base to return to from farther afield.
A cosy, open-plan cabin for two, overlooking the sea on the Waternish coast, Isle of Skye. The accommodation consists of a lounge area, a well provided kitchen, a toilet and shower room, and a double bed on the mezzanine. The Cabin is also equipped with a washing machine, wifi, plenty of books and a selection of DVDs and tapes, with a video monitor. In addition, to help your holiday, we have provided a range of local information, maps and wild life identification guides.
Although compact, the Cabin has a great feeling of space inside. It has a marine theme with its furnishings, artwork, some of its wall lights and boaty staircase. There are also a few objects originally from old boats.
The Cabin is situated on a traditional working croft – sheep and a friendly, sometimes over-friendly, band of chickens. The surrounding area is a quiet crofting community along a single-track road by the sea. There are outstanding views, to the north - Lewis and Harris, the Outer Hebrides; to the west there are hill grazing grounds and some lovely walks; to the east across the beautiful Loch Snizort - the ferry port of Uig and the Trotternish Mountains behind; and to the south, views to Raasay and mainland mountains some sixty miles away.
The Cabin enjoys, when the weather is kind, exquisite Sun and Moon rises over the Trotternish ridge across the loch. In the summer the sun appears early, perhaps too early for some! However it is quite spectacular. For those visiting in autumn and winter the Northern Lights can provide an incredible display
There are frequent sightings of eagles, whales and dolphins from the croft, and a range of birdlife and wild flowers are found on the croft land, and surrounding hills and cliffs. The Waternish countryside make the Cabin an ideal centre for walking or cycling.
The Cabin lies within its own garden next to the croft house. Across the road through the gate, at the top of the croft, is a seated area with a table that has wonderful uninterrupted sea views. Next to this is a place where fires may be lit. You will, however need to collect your own driftwood.
We are very sorry but we are unable to take any pets at the cabin because of our lambs, sheep and hens.
