Recently completed in 2017, Kilmichael Lodge is a brand new purpose built holiday home in Drumnadrochit, near Loch Ness. Furnished to a high standard, this modern lodge can comfortably accommodate 8 people in its 4 ensuite bedrooms, each of which is spacious and tastefully decorated with beautiful tartan throws, curtains and rugs. The property has two lounge areas – one of which is on the upper level which takes advantage of the lovely glass windows, making it a fantastic room to sit and socialise in. The staircase wall is home to a sporting trophy dubbed ‘Harry’ – a majestic looking stag from the Royal Deeside area who was supposedly shot on the day Prince Harry was born. The downstairs lounge/dining room contains a woodburning stove, which is an added bonus for those chilly evenings. The large, sleek fitted kitchen contains everything you could need during your stay here, and is certainly large enough to cope with cooking for eight people. In summary, this is a gorgeous modern home for couples and friends alike who are looking to explore this beautiful part of the Highlands.
Located within walking distance of Drumnadrochit which contains most of the facilities you could need, this is the ideal property for those who are happy to leave the car at home every now and then to saunter into the town for a drink or bite to eat. It is ideally placed for exploring Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle and Glen Affric which are just a short drive away from the lodge. Take a boat trip out on the loch with Jacobite Cruises to do some monster spotting, and for horse lovers there is a riding centre nearby where you can go for a trek if you would prefer to take in the scenery of the area on horseback from the nearby Borlum Riding Centre. More importantly though, Kilmichael Lodge is the perfect base to explore further afield; taking in the fantastic landscapes on route to destinations such as the Isle of Skye, John O’Groats and last but not least - the West Coast with its spectacular scenery (some of the best in Scotland). Day trips to the Orkney Islands are also available in season. Whatever you decide to get up to on your holiday, you will not be short of things to do in this fantastic area of the Highlands.
