Kinkell Cottage is a delightful stone cottage situated near the turreted tower house of Kinkell Castle on the Black Isle near Inverness (11m).
Originally an artist’s studio, it is now a picturesque dwelling that is beautifully and comfortably appointed, making it the perfect romantic hideaway. The wood-burning stove makes a great focal point in the sitting room and keeps it all nice and toasty and there is also a modern kitchen and dining area set out in the charming sunroom. Outside, it has its own secluded garden and from there and all of the rooms, there are fabulous views over to Ben Wyvis.
Walkers will enjoy the nearby glens and the relatively flat nature of the Black Isle makes it ideal for cycling. The battlefields at Culloden and the numerous castles and stately homes in the area will certainly interest history buffs. Drive across to Chanonry Point (13.5m) and watch the pods of dolphins making their way into the inner Sound or explore the north east coast with its excellent beaches and distilleries.
