On the picturesque Glenmoriston Estate is Kirkfield House, a charming detached house set in a large garden in easy walking distance of Invermoriston and not far from Loch Ness.
The house’s L-shaped open plan living area is incredibly spacious and cleverly combines relaxing, cooking and dining with distinct areas for each. Large picture windows flood it with light and a sliding door leads out to the garden. All of the bedrooms are on one level and a lovely grassed garden lies to the front of the cottage with views across the field beyond.
A nice walk leads to the Invermoriston Falls where ospreys and eagles can often be spotted. In Drumnadrochit (12m) the two Nessie museums are well worth a visit. At Banavie (37m) see the spectacle of Neptune’s Staircase, an impressive staircase of locks that canal boats use to negotiate the 64 foot change in height.
