Farmhouse Surrounded By Miles Of Countryside For Guests To Enjoy & Explore. Complete Relaxation, Luxury And Freedom To Enjoy Walking, Fishing And Farm Activities. Sleeps 10 (5 Bedrooms)
Dalton Green Farmhouse is ideal for family gatherings, wedding parties or for those who just want to get away from it all. We are 20 minutes from Gretna Green and only 10 minutes from Comlongon Castle so we have a lot of wedding guests staying with us. With our marble bathrooms, spacious bedrooms and ample dining and living space, there's more than a touch of luxury about the farmhouse. On the doorstep you have miles of countryside to explore as well as the farm, you can help feed chickens, lambs (depending on season) and go quad biking so if you're coming to relax, you don't have to go much further. The fishing is very popular. We are only 20 minutes from Dumfries and Carlisle for shopping, museums etc. if you want to do more. Open all year, it is a must for anyone who enjoys the countryside.
The Farmhouse has been decorated in a modern country style and furnished with a mix of antique and modern furniture, accentuating its luxurious specification and detailing. It accommodates a maximum of 10 people in 5 bedrooms (3 with en suite bathrooms, 2 sharing a family bathroom/shower). Four rooms have super king sized beds that can be separated into twins, while the fifth bedroom is always a twin room.
The large open-plan kitchen incorporates a 4-oven AGA, American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric hob and oven, granite worktops and island with cafe seating, and breakfast table located in the bay window. The living area at the opposite end of the spacious room has a woodburning stove, two large sofas and a large wall-mounted Smart TV (with Sky) making it the perfect place for informal gatherings.
Atmospheric lighting help set the mood for meals in the dining room where the table seats up to 14 people and 10 comfortably. A convenient ‘hatch’ links the utility room, giving easy access to a second dishwasher, washing facilities, tumble drier, second fridge freezer and storage cupboards.
The passage way leads through to the drawing room at the front of the house where guests can relax in front of a blazing fire (wood burner) and enjoy conversation, books, music, television, books, games or the internet.
Upstairs the five individually-decorated character bedrooms are complemented by stone floored bathrooms with some vintage enamel baths and walk-in marble showers. The oil-fired boiler system, with its secondary back up, will ensure that there is a constant supply of piping hot water.
Views of the garden and rolling countryside can be enjoyed from all rooms and despite good access to a minor country road, guests can enjoy a high level of privacy and the feeling of seclusion. The nearest neighbours are approximately 0.5km away further along the farm drive. The extensive garden combines a mix of lawn, borders, shrubs, fruit trees and lots of seasonal vegetables and herbs to be picked by occupants as part of the farmhouse experience. The garden is large enough to exercise dogs and for older children to play safely whilst exploring their surroundings.
Then the surrounding farm offers the most perfect unspoilt environment. 600 acres of rolling grass fields, beautiful woods, and the fantastic river, along with ponds, burns and rough land. Magical.
The Farmhouse can usually be booked from any day.
