Kirkwood Holiday Cottages welcomes you to South and West Lodges
South Lodge and West Lodge are our most traditional cottages. They are situated one at either entrance to our estate so are private and have easy access to the road but are only a short walk up to the amenities of the Stables Courtyard. Sleeping 4 to 6 guests in 2 and 3 bedrooms, these two cottages are ideal for families, couples, those who want a bit more privacy, fishermen or can be booked as part of a group with the courtyard cottages.
South Lodge is detached and very private yet only a few hundred yards from Dalton village on a quiet public road with large private garden adjoining fields. Downstairs in South Lodge you’ll find the large dining kitchen fully equipped, including a washing machine. Next door is the cosy sitting room with a lovely open fire. Also downstairs is a comfortable twin bedroom. Upstairs you’ll find another twin bedroom and a double bedroom with ensuite shower room with WC and hand basin too. At the top of the stairs is the family bathroom with bath, basin and WC. South Lodge also has a telephone that takes incoming calls on 01387 840651. The cottage has central heating with radiators in all rooms run by gas (LPG). The immersion heater also heats the water. South Lodge offers basic but good accommodation and sleeps up to 6.
West Lodge can suit guests who may struggle with stairs as it is a one storey cottage situated at the main entrance to Kirkwood, just off a minor public road. With a lovely private garden, it’s the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon. West Lodge has two charming twin bedrooms, both comfortably furnished. The cosy sitting room has an open fire, and a dining table and chairs. The galley-style kitchen has a breakfast bar for your more informal meals. The bathroom has a bath with shower over, basin and WC. West Lodge is heated using electric heaters with either the back boiler or immersion heater heating the water. The telephone in the Lodge takes incoming calls only on 01576 510305. West Lodge offers basic but good accommodation and sleeps up to 4.
Both cottages have fully equipped kitchens with electric cookers, microwaves fridge freezer (West Lodge has ice box), and kitchenware. There are CD & DVD players and televisions, books and magazines. Both offer a basic but good level of accommodation. Bedrooms are fully made up with linen, and towels available on request. A shared laundry room (in courtyard) is equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer, chest freezer and secure storage space, and a large games room is open to all guests for a game of table tennis, darts or snooker.
Enjoy a 'farm life experience' and visit the local animals, wander amongst the rolling hills and enjoy salmon and trout fishing on the loch or river. Many guests don't even leave Kirkwood as there is so much to do on the estate; whether you are interested in country sports or quad biking, wildlife watching or spa treatments. Situated 5 miles from Lockerbie and the thriving market town of Annan, there is plenty of local history, shops, pubs and restaurants to discover. Dumfries is also only 10 miles away where there is a wealth of attractions to explore, including a number of properties connected to Robert Burns, where you can learn more of the bard's extensive links with the region. Ideal for wedding parties as we are so close to Gretna and Comlongon Castle and can sleep up to 32 people in all the cottages and 42 if you include the Farmhouse.
Kirkwood Cottages can usually be booked from Sunday or (Thursday for short breaks).
