Approximately 1.5 miles from New Galloway on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park - the UK's first dark sky area, Balmaclellan provides a perfect base to experience the delights that this unspoilt area has to offer - fantastic countryside, cycling, walking, wildlife watching, watersports, museums, historical sites, the Scottish Dark Sky Observatory, beautiful gardens and beaches. The surrounding towns of Castle Douglas, Newton Stewart and Kirkcudbright - each with their own character - are all within reach.
