We are privileged to see many fine houses in Scotland but few match up to Letterewe Lodge. You can get little glimpses of the lodge on the other side of the loch from the Gairloch road but that is usually as much as most people see. The location is unbeatable with stunning Loch Maree at the edge of the lawn and the magnificent mountain - Slioch, standing guard behind. There is no road access and the estate boat that ferries you over sets the scene for this wonderful secluded spot. It is a place for eagles and deer, otters and badgers as well as some of the most stunning scenery in the world. If you are a walker or trout fisher then the estate stretches miles and miles encompassing three other estates and is considered to be the last great wilderness of Scotland.
Letterewe Lodge itself has combined luxury, welcome and an age old Scottish style to make it a truly lovely lodge. There is great character mixed with comfort and the recent refurbishment has enhanced the lodge whilst maintain its history and ambience. The roaring log fires are a welcome sight in the evening or take your drink down the loch’s edge and sit on the jetty and watch the trout on their evening rise.
For days out, there are numerous glorious beaches nearby as well as golf courses, boat trips and the National Trust’s famous Inverewe Gardens. Mostly though, you will want to explore these tens of thousands of acres of wilderness; soak in the spirituality of this glorious place or curl up in a chair in front of a fire. Go to bed in the silence of the Highlands with only the occasional cry of a wild animal or bird to disturb your slumbers. It is the sort of place you will lose your heart to so you must book for a family celebration, a summer holiday or just because you love it.

Letterewe is accessible only by estate boat, there is no road access. Very occasionally the loch may be too rough to make the crossing safely. The decision on whether the crossing will be taken is always and solely in the hands of the estate.
If bad weather results in any guest being unable to make the crossing on the planned day then neither the estate nor Cottages & Castles will be responsible for any additional costs arising from the delay. We recommend that guests always have travel insurance.
