Letterfearn Cottage has a truly fabulous position right on the shore of Loch Duich, looking across to that most iconic of Scottish landmarks, Eilean Donan Castle. It is one of a small enclave of houses on an unclassified old drovers’ road just a few miles from the high road to Skye at Shiel Bridge.
This deceptive whitewashed Highland but ’n’ ben conceals a wonderful extension with patio doors just a few yards from the lochside, and inside it is comfortable and full of character with a wood burning stove and electric heating, to make it cosy all year round.
Climbers and hill walkers will find many challenges right on the doorstep, from the Five Sisters to the Cuillins. The quiet road and forest tracks provide excellent scope for cycling. Those with an interest in wildlife will enjoy the two otter centres, one in Kyleakin and one at Kylerhea, which can be accessed in summer via the little turntable ferry from Glenelg.
And all the delights of Skye await you. You can be there in under an hour. Or continue on the mainland to the lovely village of Plockton.
