Lickleyhead Castle is a luxury, exclusive use accommodation and wedding venue sleeping up to 16 adult guests. The Gardener's Cottage, about 30 metres away in the grounds of the castle, is also available and sleeps 6 guests. This means we can potentially sleep up to 22 people!
The castle is a 16th century grade A listed building in the heart of rural Aberdeenshire. The entirety of the building is exclusively available to paying guests. The property features eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms/washrooms, a dining room, a large kitchen, a music room, a games' room, a living room and the cavernous great hall amongst others. There are 2 usable fireplaces, a grand piano, a pool table, a library and a complementary few drams of whisky for those staying in the laird's room. The castle also boasts its own box bed in the Forbes room. The laird's room aside, each room has been named and themed for the famous individuals and families that have lived here.
The Gardener's Cottage is located behind the castle up a low rise. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, a living room and a kitchen/dining room across 2 floors. The gardener's cottage also has a private garden to the rear with outdoor seating and a barbecue.
The exterior is breathtaking: the castle is surrounded on three sides by flowing water from the fore and back burns and a woodland that has been allowed to grow for at least a couple of centuries. Wildlife can frequently be viewed from the windows, including red squirrels and eagles. There is ample parking on the wide driveway.
The castle is situated approximately 30 minutes drive from Aberdeen airport. The area is a goldmine of fun activities for all the family, be it whisky tasting, climbing trees, hiking, skiing and many more. Lickleyhead backs directly onto Bennachie and no roads need be crossed to reach the summit.
We host weddings for up to 30 people. Couples can hire the castle just for the day from £2000. For teeny tiny weddings you could also hire just the East Wing for 2 nights (8 guests at the ceremony max).
Your escape from the present day begins at Lickleyhead Castle!
