In the summer, the cottage's pretty gardens are the perfect place to relax and perhaps enjoy a barbecue. Secure storage for bikes and other equipment is available at the rear of cottage and ample parking is available out the front.
You are ideally located here for exploring the challenging fairways of the Southerness and Colvend golf clubs and for birdwatching at Mersehead RSPB Nature Reserve Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Reserve at Caerlaverock. Nearby, Mabie Forest offers excellent walking and cycling routes and a wealth of wildlife, while the little ones will love meeting the friendly animals at nearby Mabie Farm Park. The area is also rich in history and nearby you can visit the ruins of the 13th century Sweetheart Abbey, while just a short drive away you will find the beautiful Threave Castle, Drumlanrig Castle and the unique Caerlaverock Castle.
The historic towns of New Abbey and Dalbeattie are both within easy reach and a little further afield you will find the Food Town of Castle Douglas and the bustling market town of Dumfries.
