It is 20 miles and 30 minutes from Stornoway - 25 miles and 40 minutes from the airport. There are geese and ducks on the loch and golden eagles soar above the hills opposite the house. An imposing stone stack dominates the left hand side of the beach and there are cliffs and a natural stone arch to the right hand side. Aultbeithe has been fitted out to the highest standard. Two bedrooms, one king-size and one twin, sleep four people in comfort. A large, open-plan living-dining area lets out through patio doors onto decking that overlooks the loch. Weekly rentals range from £800 during 2015 and 2016. The house is close to the Westside Coastal Walk and right in the middle of some of the best countryside and archaeological sites in the world. Aultbeithe is a no-smoking cottage and unfortunately, we do not accept pets.
Dalbeg is a magical place. It is one of those places where you could come on holiday and stay put for the entire time - there is so much to do in the immediate vicinity that you need look no further. 10 miles to the south are the standing stones of Callanish. 3 miles to the south is Dun Carloway, an Iron Age broch (or fort), and the restored Black House village of Gearrannan. Closer still is the beautiful beach at Dalmore, surrounded by towering cliffs and stacks. The area around Aultbeithe is one of Special Scientific Interest and is home to a wealth of wildlife. 2 miles to the north is a restored Norse Mill and a little further again are the Black House Museum at Arnol, James Smith's Photographic Gallery, the Morven Art Gallery and the pottery at Borgh.
The spacious living accommodation is situated on a single floor. The open plan living-dining-kitchen area is almost 60 square metres in size - so there is more than enough room for four people to enjoy the space without bumping into each other! We have a superb LCD TV and cinema sound system, a large selection of DVD's and a Sky package just in case the weather doesn't live up to expectations. Sky+ is part of the package so you can record your favourite programmes while you are enjoying the great outdoors. There is also an iPod docking station - so you can bring your own music or you can use the supplied iPod if you dare brave our taste in music! Broadband available for those of you that want to stay in touch with the outside world while you are on holiday. Large patio doors offer breathtaking views over the loch and access to raised decking - what better place from which to watch the sun set! A utility room and separate loo round off the accommodation at this end of the house. There is a high level of equipment throughout - so you should have everything you need to ensure a wonderful holiday. Two bedrooms, the family bathroom, and a storeroom occupy the other end of the house. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and great views over the loch through a large picture window. The second bedroom is a twin, again overlooking Loch Dalbeg. The storeroom provides a place for you to store your cases and anything else you want to get out of the way during your stay. The spacious family bathroom has a bath and a separate power shower. The entire house has been decorated to reflect Aultbeithe’s location right next to the sea.
