Loch Eyre Shepherd Hut (situated in the grounds of Loch Eyre House) is perfectly positioned to create a get away from it all bolt hole for your trip to Skye. We are situated in between Portree and Uig. **Please note the private bathroom for the property is in the main Guest House 30 metres from the Hut**
The space
Traditionally a shepherd hut was a dining room, bedroom, sitting room and storeroom all rolled into one. Designed to provide the shepherd with practical and durable accommodation. The huts had a stove in one corner for warmth and cooking and a window so the shepherd could keep an eye on the flock. A hinged stable door, which was always positioned away from the prevailing wind, enabled him to hear the flock and strong axles with cast iron wheels were used to withstand the constant movement from field to field.
Our Shepherd Hut (which sleeps 2 with a standard sized double bed), maintains these features. It is equipped with it’s own wood burning stove, and has electric power to make your stay a little more comfortable. It’s position affords stunning views over Loch Eyre and beyond. The hut is tastefully decorated and provides the ideal cosy retreat for your visit to Skye where you can rest and enjoy some privacy.
Guest access
The beauty of Loch Eyre Shepherd Hut, is that although you have the rustic living experience, you have access to your own private bathroom in the main guest house building which is no more than 25 metres away (toilet, sink and shower). Here you will find fresh towels and soaps. You also have the use of Loch Eyre House’s comfortable guest lounge if you wish.
Other things to note
The wifi is only accessible in the main house.
