Loch Sween House is a substantial house just 200 yards from a lovely sandy beach, with stunning views out over Loch Sween.
The house retains many of its original features such as the brass bell that was used to call back children playing on the beach. The sitting room has an open fire and dining area and the kitchen has a larder with its own chimney to keep it cool. Upstairs are two floors with five bedrooms and two shower rooms in total. Outside, is an extensive enclosed garden (furniture) and across the road paths lead down to the beach.
The impressive ruins of Castle Sween (2m) are definitely worth a visit, as is Crinan (15m) at the end of the Crinan Canal, where you can watch boats negotiating the locks. Boat trips run out from Crinan to Corryvreckan, which is the third largest whirlpool in the world! Lochgilphead (18m) is the best place to stock up on supermarket supplies.
