Lochhead Cottage stands quite alone right on the foreshore of lovely Loch Sunart, shortly after you branch off the Ardnamurchan road to head down to Lochaline (16 miles) and the ferry to the Isle of Mull.
All the cottages on the Estate are of a high standard and Lochhead is no exception. It is a typical stone-built Highland cottage whose traditional whitewashed exterior is belied by the 21st century comforts within.
The cosy sitting room has an open fire, so you can relax in comfort with a whisky after a day in the hills, on the water or wherever. Throughout, it has been tastefully decorated and furnished and the sitting room in particular is very restful and welcoming, with its bright rug, comfortable seating and attractive pictures on the walls.
There is a spacious and well-fitted kitchen diner that has a cheerful yellow décor that gives the whole room a sunny glow. There is a bathroom (with shower) and upstairs are double and twin bedrooms. There are wonderful views across the loch to the mountains of Moidart and Sunart beyond.
Outside is no less attractive. The large, fenced grass garden (with furniture) is perfect for sitting out on a sunny day and for both children and pets to play (though there is terracing and a drop behind the cottage). Parking is in a little private parking bay to the front. Sheep often forage on the rocky foreshore just across the little road, another spot of local colour and you may even see deer walking past, or on the hill behind.
