The house makes an ideal holiday base either for exploring the rich history and hills of the surrounding area or for quiet relaxation in the peaceful gardens. While in a very private and secluded location it is only ten minutes' drive from the bustling market town of Castle Douglas and within easy reach of the wonderful Solway Coast with quiet secluded beaches and awe inspiring cliff walks.
Surrounding the house are large attractive, well-maintained gardens which can be enjoyed from the burnside patios. The gardens include a small bowling green and tennis court, both available for use by holidaymakers. In addition, there is free, rough perch and pike fishing for house guests on two small lochs a pleasant five and ten minute walk away respectively.
Served by a quiet country road, ideal for walking or cycling, the house is only a few minutes' drive from the A75 Stranraer to Carlisle trunk road. The villages of Springholm and Crocketford, both with pubs serving meals and a village shop, are within a five minute drive. Castle Douglas, the Food Town, provides excellent shopping, with a number of hotels, pubs and restaurants. The Solway coast, with its wonderful scenery and extensive sandy beaches, is within a half hour's drive and there are a number of excellent, and in some cases testing, golf courses all within easy access, including the championship links course at Southerness.
