Welcome to Luffness Mains, a lovely 16th Century farmhouse situated in wonderful grounds with a large walled garden minutes from Aberlady and Gullane. Exclusive use of bedroom/s by one family or friends
The house looks out over open countryside and is well away from busy roads. There are two very pretty and well-furnished double bedrooms with sash windows and original old shutters, which share a private bathroom and are suitable for exclusive use by one family or friends. There is Wi-Fi available throughout the house. A third bedroom is available by prior arrangement. Upon arrival, afternoon tea is served downstairs in the sun room in front of a log fire or, in the summer months, outside in the garden. In the morning, full or continental breakfast is available, which is served in a beautiful dining room with bay window overlooking the garden. Enjoy fresh fruit & yoghurt, homemade bread and conserves, porridge or a traditional cooked breakfast.
We have some excellent restaurants and pubs within 5 minutes drive from the house, including: Chez Roux at Greywalls, The Old Club House, The Main Course, La Potiniere and The Golf Inn, all in Gullane. In Aberlady, there is Ducks at Kilspindie and the Aberlady Inn.
We are close to many of East Lothian’s beaches and world class golf courses, including Gullane, Muirfield, Archerfield, Renaissance, Luffness and Craigielaw. Myreton Motor Museum is just 5 minutes’ walk away. Aberlady Nature Reserve is also within walking distance. The farmhouse is an ideal location for golfers with 10 excellent 18-hole courses within 2 miles of the house.
North Berwick which is one of Scotland's best coastal resorts is 7 miles along the coast. It has beautiful golden beaches and a vibrant town centre offering boutiques and art galleries, complemented by delicious local produce and the finest wines and spirits. Take a trip out to the Bass Rock, described by Sir David Attenborough as “one of the 12 wildlife wonders of the world” or visit the award winning Scottish Seabird Centre.
We also have two wonderful castles within close reach, Tantallon and Dirleton and then a little further afield, a day’s racing can be enjoyed at Musselburgh Racecourse. Glenkinchie Distillery is also well worth a visit. If you like walking, The John Muir Way comes through Aberlady and Gullane and is within easy reach of our farmhouse.
There is plenty of off road parking at Luffness Mains. We are a non-smoking establishment and have our own dogs so we are unable to allow guests with dogs.
