Set amidst the rolling hills near Trochry in Perthshire, Meikle Findowie is a charming farmhouse in a peaceful setting. Having been recently refurbished to a high standard, the property serves as an ideal base for those wishing to explore the likes of Dunkeld, Pitlochry and many of the other beautiful towns in this part of Scotland.
As you walk in to the house, you are greeted by a fantastic farmhouse-style kitchen/dining room, which is certainly large enough for all of the family to gather round in at mealtimes. The sitting room is cosy and - like almost all of the rooms in this house - takes advantage of the countryside views from the window. Sink into the luxuriously comfortable sofas and put your feet up in front of the fire at the end of a busy day: utter bliss. Each bedroom is bright and fresh, with careful thought having been put in to the furnishings and décor to create a calming environment which is ideal for a restful sleep. There are stylish little touches that catch your eye as you make your way around this house; from speckled glass light shades in the kitchen, fluffy sheepskin rugs in the window seat of the dining area, to individual patterned stone hooks on the wall of one bedroom – all of which add character to Meikle Findowie. Outside, the enclosed garden is a fantastic spot to dine al fresco in the sunshine, with no noise to disturb you apart from the chirping birds and the odd bleat of a sheep on the farm.
Dunkeld is well known for its outdoor pursuits – from kayaking to cliff jumping and water skiing, keen adventure enthusiasts are sure to find lots to do. For those looking to have a more relaxing time, there is fishing on the nearby River Tay and plenty of castles, golf courses and whisky distilleries that are well worth a visit during your stay in Perthshire.
