Mill Cottage is located in the East Mainland, seven miles from the town of Kirkwall. Insulated to a high standard, with underfloor heating throughout, it offers a comfortable and convenient base for a holiday in Orkney.
The open plan kitchen / dining / sitting room is bright and cosy with recliner swivel chairs, a dining area, flat screen Freeview TV, DVD player and sound box. There is also a small wood burning stove.
The fitted kitchen area is equipped with an electric oven and hob, washer dryer, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave oven, iron and ironing board, as well as a good range of crockery and cooking utensils.
The bedroom has a zip-link bed which can be either a 6ft super-king or two 3ft single beds.
The toilet / shower room includes an electric shower and heated towel rail.
Electricity, towels, bed linen and Wi-Fi usage are included in the rate.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome on request.
There is ample private parking alongside the cottage, and a lean-to shed at the back offers space to dry walking boots and wet weather clothing, as well as storage for bicycles etc. Guests are welcome to use the surrounding garden space.
The cottage is ideal for people who enjoy outdoor activities such as walking and bird watching. The Mull Head Local Nature Reserve is nearby and there are sandy beaches at Dingieshowe, Newark and Halley. Other attractions that are close at hand include the Churchill Barriers and the beautiful Italian Chapel on the island of Lamb Holm.
