The Mill House has quickly become one of the most popular houses in Scotland for weekend parties or full weeks away. It will accommodate up to 22 guests in total in a stylish and spacious setting with rooms on four levels. The slate tiled ground floor space of over 80m2 is the big attraction. It works in an open plan, free-flowing style and is a great social space for a big group. The large state-of-the-art kitchen leads into a dramatic dome ceilinged dining hall, which itself gives through into the drawing room area with large leather sofas grouped around an open fire place.
The French oak dining table is generally extended and set for 14 but a duplicate serves as the kitchen table and can be moved in, so any number from 10 to 24 can dine together.
Dining and lounge areas feature the original exposed stone wall. A separate TV room/play room on the ground floor has its own access to the garden. An additional sitting room on the mezzanine floor, again with exposed stone wall, gives onto another terrace with river views. There are two large flat screen televisions with full Sky Plus.
The entire property of 260 square metres features under-floor heating from an environmentally-friendly ground source heat pump. There are three bathrooms, two with whirlpool corner baths, a separate downstairs WC/cloak and utility room and a sauna. The nine bedrooms are all quite small, two in particular being designed for children. Two others feature king size raised beds, awkward for elderly/infirm guests. Six bedrooms feature washbasins but we describe the Mill House as a five star living accommodation with two star bedrooms.
On all the different levels, the designers have combined contemporary style with traditional materials to create a really luxurious but comfortable feel. Smeg, Miele and Bose appliances, goose feather and down duvets and pillows, designer linen and crystal glass ware exemplify the attention to detail and no expense spared attitude.
Guests share access to a games cottage with table tennis, pool table & dart board, plus a bouncy castle, tennis court, large trampoline, zip-wire, forest walks, private lochan and waterfalls. An indoor swimming pool is shared between all three Ormidale houses. Each house has its own jacuzzi/hot tub (£50 per weekend).
