It is part of a small farm steading built in the 1800's and sits within grounds of approximately 4 acres.
There is one double bedroom, a bathroom with bath and shower over, a comfortable living/dining/kitchen area with access at the rear to a large private decked area providing a place to sit and enjoy the views across to Eynhallow Sound.
The cottage is very modern inside, equipped with a Charnwood wood burning stove and wall mounted TV/DVD player. The Kitchen is modern with gloss units and high quality worktops and is well equipped with built-in dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge with freezer compartment and microwave.
Outside there is parking for one car directly in front of the cottage. There are outbuildings a plenty here, so if you are bringing bikes or canoes or surf boards even!, then we can store them for you.
There are things to do near to us, being just a 2 minute drive from Evie/Aikerness Beach - a sandy beach where often seals can be spotted and occasionally the odd Orca! Further up near Costa, we often sea Surfers. It's also a pleasant walk on a nice day. You can also visit Eviedale Cafe and Bistro just up the road and on the way to the beach as it happens! who also make the best sourdough pizza to eat in or takeaway! Fernvalley Wildlife Centre is just near at Tingwall which also has a café. Tingwall Jetty provides access to Rousay Island, the 'Egypt of the North' if you fancy a day-trip.
Further afield, the cottage is just 20 minutes drive to either Kirkwall, Stromness or indeed the heart of Neolithic Orkney, the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Finstown is a 10 minute drive providing access to Binscarth woods providing a lovely walk where you can carry on through the other side out to Wasdale Loch.
If you like bird watching we are very close to two RSPB Bird Hides - the Eddie Balfour Hide at RSPB Cottascarth is lovely, with parking for a few vehicles and a picnic bench, it makes for a lovely visit for a few hours for adults and children alike.
