Set in 15 acres of farmland elevated above the River Cree, the Nether Barr Steading enjoys magnificent countryside views and a fantastic location, just 1 mile from Newton Stewart. Dating back to the 1800s, this traditional steading was originally a stud farm for Lord Galloway's estate, and has more recently been lovingly converted into six self-catering lodges. Each sleeps between two and six guests and has been individually designed to incorporate the character of the original building. The public areas are open plan and consist of a lounge, dining area and kitchen, allowing a light and airy feel throughout. All self-catering needs are considered with a flat screen LCD television, DVD player and CD player providing entertainment for cosy nights in, and a fully fitted kitchen ideal for cooking, with electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer as well as washer dryer.
The contrasting landscapes around Newton Stewart make the area a haven for any lover of the outdoors. The steading is an ideal base for a range of activities including golfing, fishing, walking, shooting, sailing, cycling and birdwatching. A newly built walkway and cycle path has been built from Nether Barr to Newton Stewart and offers an idyllic stroll into town where there is a wealth of shops, bars and eateries. The gardens at Castle Kennedy, Threave and Logan are also easily reached, as is the magnificent Galloway Forest Park, with 300 square miles of captivating landscape, abundant wildlife and fantastic cycling and walking trails.
