Ayr provides a superb base for a holiday with excellent local shops, restaurants, recreational facilities and is very close to the world famous golf courses at Royal Troon, Trump Turnberry and Prestwick. Ayr Racecourse is also very close by.
Outdoor sports are well catered for, with excellent sailing on the Firth of Clyde and superb fishing on local rivers. While land based activities include the Ayrshire Coastal Path, and exploring the Islands of Arran, Bute and Cumbrae. Ferries to Dunoon are also within easy reach giving access to the Cowal Peninsula together with Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park.
Family activities abound with the Heads of Ayr Farm Park close by as are a multitude of National Trust properties including the world famous Culzean Castle with its breath taking clifftop location and wonderful beach below (note there are steep steps down the cliff side to the beach).
The city of Glasgow is only a 40 minute drive and Edinburgh only 45 minutes beyond, with rail links to both and easy access to their airports and also nearby Prestwick airport.
