Old Milton has undergone many changes with the traditional smaller rooms now converted to spacious light spaces yet it retains its charm and welcome. The house has numerous fires and wood burners creating warmth and welcome all year round
The kitchen is a large bright space with top of the range appliances that make catering a joy. The large central island means this kitchen copes easily with cooking for the 20 the dining room will seat. The dining room is a modern creation of wooden beams, hand carved ‘chandeliers’ and beautiful wooden floors. The next door morning room is a bright and light space – simply and luxurious and relaxing. The more formal drawing room with big sofas to sink into, has fires at each end so suits both small and large social events.
Go up the hand carved modern staircase to access the main bedrooms – all are en-suite with luxurious bathrooms and beds you want to sink into. The traditional and luxurious coombed ceiling rooms look across the gardens to Cairngorm – just beautiful. There is one en-suite bedroom on the ground floor which would suit anyone with less mobility. Two further bedrooms have a separate staircase and share a bathroom. They are all delightful, comfortable and tempting.
Outside a natural stone patio is reminiscent of an Italian villa complete with the scent of herbs in the air. There is a wonderfully created and maintained 9 hole golf course stretching down away from the house and an all weather tennis court for the energetic. The Upper Spey offers salmon and trout fishing and the views across the RSPB reserve will be of interest to bird watchers. You will never be short of activities here – with fields sports available locally, Aviemore with its wealth of activities and Loch Insh nearby for sailing as well as the magnificent Cairngorm Mountains on your doorstep. Combine this with the wonderful house that is Old Milton and you will have the holiday of a lifetime here.
Behind the house is a small charming bothy that is fully self contained, very compact and ideal for children or staff. It is not let separately so your privacy is ensured.
Please note: Maximum of 3 dogs welcome. Dogs are confined to hard floor areas only and are not allowed upstairs or on furniture. Wet dogs are to be kept in drying room.
