One of only three self-catering holiday cottages (all positioned far apart from each other) on the private Orroland Estate, Orroland Lodge is set amidst picturesque farmland, which rolls from the hills all the way down to the shore, in the South-West of Scotland.
Home to a loch with a pavilion, a wildflower meadow, sculptured gardens, towering woodlands and unspoilt grassy fields, Orroland combines the best of its surrounding beauty, all in one place. It is simply a location you could never tire of exploring.
The house itself offers expansive sea views, large social living spaces plus a sheltered, sunny terrace which looks out across the Solway Firth, to the Cumbrian hills and the Isle of Man.
You are literally a stone's throw from the steep wooded slope, leading down to the private rocky shoreline, where you will find rock pools and caves to discover. Large flat rocks along the shoreline are ideal for barbecues, picnics and sunbathing.
Orroland Lodge can be found via its own private drive, off the main lane into the Orroland estate.
This spacious, two-storey detached property is perfect for multi-generational and extended families wanting to spend time together in a relaxed environment.
The ground floor comprises both living and sleeping accommodation.
A drawing room, with doors opening out over the lawn to the sea is the ideal location from which to spot porpoises and seals.
Here you will find plenty of comfortable seating and a cosy, open fire already laid for your arrival. Need more logs? They are freely available, right outside the property.
A large, separate dining room, with wood panelling, a door to the lawn and sea views, allows you to seat up to 30 guests.
A fully equipped kitchen, including a large, four oven AGA, as well as a free standing electric oven, microwave, two dishwashers, a washing machine and dryer means that you have everything you need to hand in order to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Whilst a boot room, utility room, larder and pantry mean that there is more than enough storage space for provisions, coats and wellies.
Multi-generational breaks are catered for, with our downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms providing easy to access accommodation for those who are less mobile in your party.
Orroland offers no less than three downstairs bedrooms, comprising two twin bedrooms plus the master bedroom, complete with a king size bed. Both the master bedroom and one of the twin bedrooms overlook the sea.
There are also four downstairs bathrooms, two of which feature a bath with a shower over. There is a fully accessible roll-in shower plus a further bathroom, with a bath.

There is plenty of hot water. If it is chilly when you arrive, we will already have put the heating on. And a thermostatic control means you can keep the temperature just to your liking throughout your stay.
A pool table in the dining room provides ideal wet weather entertainment for all ages. There is a TV and DVD player too.
Outside, Orroland Lodge offers total privacy, with its own large garden and grounds, complete with furniture and a BBQ. Please note that the garden is not fully enclosed.
The wildflower meadow, loch with pavilion, walks and access to the sea shore are shared spaces for guests of three holiday homes plus our own family, which is resident at Orroland.
Orroland estate has its own private (and very quiet) road. There are no public roads intersecting the private and shared spaces.
If you prefer a little more solitude, why not head down to our shared wooden beach hut overlooking the sea, for some quiet reflection by the water’s edge?
Perfect for children and small babies, Orroland is one of those rare and magical holiday locations where the kids really can safely ride their bikes all day, climb trees, make dens or look for tadpoles in their own loch. Only coming back in for dinner and bed.
And if you are dog lovers, then Orroland welcomes up to 3 dogs to a setting where you can walk your dogs all day, through wildflower meadows and ancient woodland, past our private loch and down to our own coastal shoreline - and not bump into anyone else.
A nature lover’s dream, Orroland is home to roe deer, red kites and red squirrels. The site is brimming with flora and fauna, offering year round interest for all nature lovers.
