Countryside cottage with 3 bedrooms, wood burning hot tub and panoramic views over the surrounding farmland. Situated in the rolling hills of The Carse of Gowrie yet only 20 minutes from Dundee and Perth city centres, this rural wellness retreat also offers a gym, sauna, games room and tennis court as well as onsite walking.
Outfield cottage sleeps 6 and has a fabulous wood burning hot tub beside its patio with wide reaching panoramic views. The property is semi detached and the accommodation is on 2 levels, the upper level was once a hay loft and therefore has low level windows as well as velux windows. The upstairs houses the large master bedroom with its en suite bathroom with shower over the bath. The beds can be a superking (6 foot wide) or the beds can be separated to form 2 singles. On the ground level of the accommodation you have the open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area. The sitting area has huge tall windows and patio doors effectively bringing the outside views in. There is an open fireplace and extremely comfortable leather seating. The kitchen area is large and a counter separates it from the sitting area. The dining table is just to the side of the kitchen area. The large main bathroom has a separate shower, bath and toilet. 3 stairs take you onto a landing where the 2 further bedrooms are located side by side. These bedrooms have twin zip and link beds which can convert to superking size just like the master bedroom. These bedrooms are small in relation to the large master bedroom and are slightly roomier when the beds are set up as singles and not superkings.
Outfield Farm has evolved into a rural wellness retreat where slow living is King. As well as the wood burning hot tub which is just for the use of Outfield cottage, guests are also able to make use of the shared facilities of our wellness gym (light gym equipment), wood burning sauna, tennis court and games room . Guests have a log store beside the hot tub and have free access to top it up from our main log sheds. We have a list too of walks in the area, many starting from the farm itself on specially cut paths. The surrounding garden area around Pitmiddle, Outfield and Honeysuckle is not fenced – so pet owners need to be aware of that and the fact that we have sheep or ponies in the fields – you cannot let your pet out unattended. The properties are on a very small farm accessed via a farm road.
We have tried to be as environmentally friendly as we can with our holiday houses. When we converted Outfield and Pitmiddle from farm buildings into accommodation we kept the same footprint so some stables are now bedrooms! We have used reclaimed wooden flooring and the houses are powered by a geothermal ground source heat pump. Our private water supply comes off the hill and is filtered in our water treatment area before going to the houses. All our fixtures and fittings are sourced locally.
In order to increase our green credentials even more we put up a small 18 m wind turbine on the hill behind the holiday houses in 2014. It is only an 11 kw turbine but we hope that after its first year we will have generated enough kw hours to cover our on site electrical needs.
Changeover day is flexible but we are not keen on Sunday arrivals. Please note that we do have a private water supply which goes through a high tech filter system although bottled water is available free of charge if preferred – we would recommend it for anyone with low immunity.
On site we have 3 properties, all with wi-fi in the living areas. At the other end of this sandstone building you have Pitmiddle ,the 2 bedroom cottage. These 2 properties can be used as one large property when the interconnecting door is unlocked (this gives you a large 5 bedroom cottage called Pitfield).
Also on site backing on to Pitmiddle you have the detached 1 bedroom cottage Honeysuckle. In total we can accommodate 12 guests in the 3 cottages.
