1 double bedroom, 2 twin bedrooms (sleeps 6)
The open fire in the cosy kitchen at the heart of the cottage provides the warmest welcome after a day in the wilds while the sunny sitting room just invites you to simply soak up the view and mull over what tomorrow might bring. While there are days when hours fly by just enjoying the large enclosed garden and mooching down the path through the pasture to the loch to beachcomb, this lovely midge-free spot isn’t just the ideal place to relax in the peace and quiet of idyllic scenery. All sorts of opportunities to launch into activity and adventure are close to home; from climbing hills or mountain biking to kite surfing or pony trekking. The landscape has provided the perfect arena in which to be as active as you could possibly wish; a brilliant place to play and a great place to explore.
And you will be surrounded by natural wonders as Oystercatchers sits within the Loch Fleet national nature reserve; an amazing collection of habitats and home to a remarkable array of wildlife at all times of the year. Ospreys fishing over the loch in spring and summer, thousands of geese floating across the wide skies in winter, a large clan of seals snoozing on the sandbanks every day of the year. Even if nature isn’t your thing it provides a very lovely backdrop to any holiday.
If you find yourself heading for a scenery overload, Dornoch is a very few minutes away. Not many villages can boast miles of sandy beaches, a cathedral, a bishop’s castle, a world famous golf course, invariably ranked as one of the finest in Great Britain, cafes and restaurants and, during the summer months, a pipe band parading on the main street every Saturday evening. Not only picture-postcard perfect, Dornoch is also practical for shopping and supplying the stuff you forgot to pack.
Just a 50 minute drive from Inverness, Oystercatchers is the perfect do nothing or do everything destination on a unique and lovely stretch of the Highland coast.
