Our cottages at Spittal Farm, Spittal Cottage and Spittal Coach House, are in a glorious position, on the southern slopes of the Pentlands, surrounded by stunning walking country on a working sheep farm within the Pentland Hills Regional Park.
At Newhall, about a mile away, we have a two bedroom Steading Cottage set in the lovely grounds of the historic Newhall Estate. The estate is secluded and has delightful and extensive walks in the glen beside the River North Esk and has a magnificent walled garden dating back to 1796. The estate was the setting for Allan Ramsay's Gentle Shepherd play written in 1725 and there are monuments in the grounds to commemorate this.
You will see a wide variety of wildlife including roe deer and many birds, including woodpeckers as one would expect in such a rural situation...all the while the centre of Edinburgh is only 13 miles away and very easily accessed.
