Persabus is a working hill farm with panoramic views of the Paps of Jura and the Sound of Islay. It has been farmed by the Fletcher family for over a hundred years.
It is the gateway to the north Islay Distilleries of Ardnahoe, Caol ila and Bunnahabhain, situated on the single track road leading to Ardnahoe and Bunnahabhian Distillery. Caol ila Distillery is just across the fields from Persabus. The south Islay Distilleries are a half hour car ride away from the farm.
A variety of accommodation is on offer at Persabus.
Persabus Cottage and Persabus Millhouse are traditional stone cottages offering comfortable self catering accommodation. The cottages each have three bedrooms and can accommodate up to six guests in each comfortably.
Alternatively you can stay in the farmhouse accommodation suite. The suite can be booked on a room only basis at present. The suite consists of two bedrooms each with ensuite shower and toilet. Each room has the option of two single beds or a super king size double bed in each. There is also a small sitting room with TV, referred to as the 'whisky snug'. With four leather winged back armchairs, it is the perfect place to sit and enjoy a dram, after a day spent out on the hills or exploring the huge sandy beaches of Islay.
Persabus has facilities to accommodate parties of up to sixteen people, but is equally comfortable for lone travellers.
The accommodation on offer is the ideal base for families, bird watchers, wildlife enthusiasts and whisky visitors. Barnacle Geese, Golden Eagles, Sea Eagles, Corncrakes and deer are among the regular guests welcomed to the farm.
