Purgavie Farm is a 475 acre working farm in the beautiful countryside of Lintrathen .The farmhouse is very old and has great character lovely views and is quiet and cosy no rooms are next to one an other which gives greater privacy
GLENISLA ROOM This room has a double bed and a single bed for a family a z bed can also be added It has a small en suite with a nice powerful shower bathrobes and toiletries supplied also fluffy towels The room is decorated with Laura Ashley wallpaper and furnishings and has tea coffee hot chocolate and biscuits along with free view tv This room looks out to the farm and Strathmore valley with the sidlaw hills in the background
GLENPROSEN ROOM This room also has the same views as Glenisla Again it has Laura Ashley furnishings The bathroom also has bath robes and toiletries also fluffy towels there is an overhead powerful shower over the bath tub We call this the Loo with the view as the window looks right down the road to Kirriemuir The room has twin beds which can be made into a super king and has free view tv and coffee ,tea and hot chocolate also
GLENCLOVA ROOM Again this room is all furnished with Laura Ashley The room looks out to Brankam hill and down the road to Kirriemuir there's a wash hand basin in this room as the bathroom is off a small private hall some guests say it is a little suite and seems to be the most popular room The bathroom has a tub and a separate powerful shower it is a large bathroom with bathrobes and toiletries also The super king size bed can be made into twins if required again tea coffee and hot chocolate also free view tv All rooms have hairdryers also
DININGROOM Breakfast is served in the antique dining room All guests share a large victorian table where many conversations take place Breakfast can be any time the guests require it There is an extensive breakfast menu for the Taste our Best all produce is local where possible and I make yogurt every day The menus are in the rooms and guests can choose the night befor what they would like then it is freshly cooked on the AGA
LOUNGE there is also a comfy lounge with tv and music centre and DVD but most guests sit in the conservatory and admire the views over the farm fields watch the birds rabbits and other wild life we had a red squirrel at one time hope it comes back
Purgavie is two hours from Glasgow airport ,about one and a half from both Edinburgh and Aberdeen Most people stay here then head for inverness either the scenic route by Braemar and Ballater then the Lecht passing the Queens residence of Balmoral castle .The other route is the A9 which is a busier road but has many lovely views also .
If you are interested in fishing Lintrathen Loch is very close also the Backwater dam has fishing from the bank this is Dundee's water supply we are lucky we have our own lovely water supply fro a spring on the hill.The WEE Bear cafe is a few miles away for light lunches and the Peel farm farther round the road so you an spend the walking round the Loch and have food at both those places We have a nice hill to walk on maybe you can spot the bronze age ruins up there we also have a few geo caches planted around the farm if that is your hobby .
About 20 mins away is the fairytale GLAMIS CASTLE the home of the the late Queen mother which aslo has lovely gardens Next Is Kirriemuir where Jm Barrie's birth place is also The Peter Pan park for the children This May a statue to the the late Bonn Scott with be erected as he once lived in Kirriemuir and was in the band ACDC. All the other glens are close by and interesting if you are a keen hill walker Glen Clova is you place GlenIsla Hotel is open all day and very popular with my guests for meals and at the Peel farm they have a courtyard where they make their own gin the area is also popular for shooting parties
DUNDEE Is the home of the Discovery ship there is also a centre which tells the story of Scott of the Antarctic there Next to it the new V AND A is taking place so should be nice when that is all completed .The Verdant works are also interesting this place tells the story of the jute trade in Dundee Dundee was once known as the JUTE JAM and JOURNALISM CITY It is only about 45 mins from here Camperdown Park is also good for families it has a small zoo
GOLF I think is the biggest sporting pastime around there are many good golf courses from the Famous Carnoustie couse where Ben Hogan won in 1953 to the Scott Paul Lawrie who won in 1999 St Andrews is about an hour from here with its famous golf course
I think in Angus we have lots of good things for the tourists and do not go home without trying the famous Arbroath smokies they are a real treat you will never forget So come along spend some time at Purgavie Farm and you will not be disappointed you can coming for special occasions like the highland games , extravaganza , and outdoor Proms at Glamis castle .
