Raasay is a self contained cottage, all on one level and with ramp access. The accommodation includes two bedrooms (double and twin) with built-in wardrobes, and new beds for 2022. There is a comfortable lounge diner with 50” Freeview HD TV (includes catch up apps), DVD player and two comfy sofa's, plus a global radio which brings stations from around the world
The bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower cubicle (with power shower), and mirror/shaver point. There is a fully equipped kitchen with oven, hob, microwave, coffee pod machine, sandwich toaster, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge/freezer. The cottage is cosy and warm, heated by oil fired central heating and includes a log burner (initial complimentary suppy of fuel included). The electricity supplied is from 100% renewable energy sources and is for domestic use only. Please note EV charging from the house is not permitted, public charging options are available in Gairloch.
Large picture windows give stunning views over to Skye, Harris and Lewis - plus there is private beach access 40 metres across the croft that the cottage is located on. Binoculars are provided to assist with wildlife searching, and if you tire of that you'll find an array of board games and books to keep you busy
The lawned garden includes a picnic bench for four, and Adirondack chairs for two, to relax into and take in the view. There are also two lightweight fold up chairs for use in the garden, or to take with you on a walk. The garden surrounding the house is fenced and secure. The house features porches at both the front and rear for muddy boots and wet coats
The area boasts many sandy beaches, and the opportunity to see whales, dolphins and more right from the windows of the house. In autumn and winter, with dark skies and with the right conditions, there is the opportunity to see the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights
The cottage is located in the quiet crafting community of Melvaig, some nine miles from Gairloch, with it’s many pubs, restaurants and cafe’s. Whilst at the cottage, the only sounds you are likely to hear are the waves crashing on the beach, birdsong, and the baa-ing of the free range sheep out on the croft
Bookings are for multiples of one week, from a Saturday, throughout the year. Included in the price is all electricity and oil for the central heating, high speed fibre internet with wi-fi, and bed linen and towels.
