It commands stunning, uninterrupted views over the Bay of Ireland to the Hoy Hills, arguably one of the best vistas in Orkney. Pine Trees is a bright, beautifully designed new self-catering cottage, tranquil and relaxing and in an area of outstanding beauty. It has been converted and extended to provide luxurious accommodation for two people, although the bedroom (the original Bothy cottage) is suitable as a family room. This delightful large bedroom has a cathedral ceiling and interesting features. Every ceiling is tongue and groove wood, and all except the bedroom have recessed spotlights. In its previous life, the original Bothy was my art studio and prior to that was a farm worker’s cottage/grain store in the 19thCentury. It is of a high standard and has been thoughtfully constructed in sympathy with its natural woodland/farmland surroundings. It still retains original Orkney stone frontage on one wall, while another has double wooden cladding and the rest are pebble - dashed. The sitting room and open-plan stylish kitchen/dining area is spacious, light and attractive. Soak up the idyllic woodland scene through the large patio doors towards the Bay and Hoy Hills. Cosy in or venture out to enjoy the clean, pure air, walking, bird watching, photography, painting and easy access to archaeological sites, nearby beach, fishing lochs, towns and shops.Free wifi.
