South Lodge is one of our more traditional cottages. It is situated at one of our estate entrances so is very private and has easy access to the road but are only a short walk up to the amenities of the Stables Courtyard. Sleeping up to 6 guests in 3 bedrooms, this cottage is ideal for families, couples, those who want a bit more privacy, fishermen or can be booked as part of a group with the courtyard cottages.
South Lodge is detached and very private yet only a few hundred yards from Dalton village on a quiet public road with large private garden adjoining fields. Downstairs in South Lodge you’ll find the large dining kitchen fully equipped, including a washing machine. Next door is the cosy sitting room with a lovely open fire. Also downstairs is a comfortable twin bedroom. Upstairs you’ll find another twin bedroom and a double bedroom with ensuite shower room with WC and hand basin too. At the top of the stairs is the family bathroom with bath, basin and WC. The cottage has central heating with radiators in all rooms run by gas (LPG). The immersion heater also heats the water. South Lodge offers basic but good accommodation and sleeps up to 6.
South Lodge has a fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer and kitchenware. It offers a basic but comfortable level of accommodation. Bedrooms are fully made up with linen, and towels available on request. A shared laundry room (in courtyard) is equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer, chest freezer and secure storage space, and a large games room is open to all guests for a game of table tennis, darts or snooker.
Enjoy a 'farm life experience' and visit the local animals, wander amongst the rolling hills and enjoy salmon and trout fishing on the loch or river. Many guests don't even leave Kirkwood as there is so much to do on the estate; whether you are interested in country sports or quad biking, wildlife watching or walking. Situated 5 miles from Lockerbie and the thriving market town of Annan, there is plenty of local history, shops, pubs and restaurants to discover. Dumfries is also only 10 miles away where there is a wealth of attractions to explore, including a number of properties connected to Robert Burns, where you can learn more of the bard's extensive links with the region. Ideal for wedding parties as we are so close to Gretna, Springkell and Kinmount and can sleep up to 32 people in all the cottages.
