Accommodation: 4 bedrooms, 2 doubles, 2 twins (sleeps 8)
Surrounded by water on three sides, with the Summer Isles framed by the Torridon Mountains, Reiff Beach Cottage is in one of the most spectacular settings in NW Scotland and really is one of the hidden gems of the Highlands. Several sandy beaches and rock pools are waiting to be explored, all from the doorstep. Fishing, kayaking, bird watching, walking, photography, painting or observing the abundant wildlife on land and shore will fill your days without the need to drive anywhere. Seasonally, prawn, crab and lobster can be ordered from local fishermen, whilst a few miles along the coast there is a friendly pub serving food, a general store and an excellent restaurant at the Summer Isles Hotel, known for its seafood. Ullapool is less then an hour by car and has an arts centre, museum, leisure centre with swimming pool and range of shops, restaurants and pubs, many of which have live music in the evening.
This is a place to spend lazy days absorbing the sheer beauty of the surroundings followed by nights round the fire with only the sound of waves on the beach. The house has a seaside feel with white floorboards throughout and warm and natural fabrics, wool and furs. There is one bathroom and another shower room. Each of the four bedrooms has its own colour theme and individual style. The main sitting room has a large viewing window with comfortable sofas round the fire and armchairs in the window to put your feet up and admire the garden and mountain views. Great care over the environment and sea is taken by this cottage as it is set within an area of outstanding natural beauty.
Reiff Beach Cottage is on the western edge of the Coigach Peninsula which is reached by a quiet winding road passing the famous Stac Pollaidh and running through a valley of lochs with the stunning Coigach mountains on either side. From the top of the hill before a sharp turn right to Reiff, there is one of the most unforgettable views of the Summer Isles spanning the horizon. Guests can spend days watching the ever changing sea or looking across the Minch to the Hebrides, south to Skye and north to the mountains of Sutherland. Here the seasons are dramatic, each with their own extraordinary colours, views and sounds. Visitors are attracted here to be reminded of nature's rhythms away from the stresses of modern life. If you want to star gaze, peer into rock pools, sail round islands, walk coastal paths, listen to music and song, climb mountains, capture breathtaking sunsets, stroll deserted beaches, catch wild trout for breakfast, then this if for you.
