The vast mountains, glens and lochs seem worlds away from dense urban areas and endless traffic, and nearby activities will keep you on your toes - including fishing, shooting and golf, as well as a range of outdoor pursuits such as hillwalking, climbing, skiing, boating and watersports. And proximity to Loch Ness, the Caledonian Canal, the Great Glen Way and the Nevis Range makes this an ideal base for exploring the Highlands.
Bedroom 1 has a superking bed and ensuite. Bedroom 2 has two singles, which can be "zip and linked" together. Both have Orla Kiely bedding for a great nights sleep. There is also a main bathroom with a shower and a full size bath.
The open plan lounge has large patio doors which frame a stunning view of the Loch and its mountains. The lounge also has a 42" TV, a Bluetooth soundbar, mobile internet, and a Google Chromecast - along with comfy sofas, a beanbag, games, books, maps and local information for your use.
The open plan kitchen has all the latest mod cons and comes complete with washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge with an icebox and an oven and hob. The kitchen is very well stocked with the latest gadgets and equipment including a microwave and ProCook Elite Cookware.
There is a large storage cupboard which is ideal for storing equipment should you be planning activities. Also provided are an iron and ironing board, a hairdryer and straighteners, and an array of travel adaptors/ chargers should you forget to bring your own. The property has its own parking space and there is a road down to the Loch which is a lovely 5 minute walk.
The Nevis Range mountain resort is a 15 minute drive from River Horse View - with Britain's only mountain gondola. Skiing is available during the winter months and passes, equipment and lessons can all be booked online. In the summer, you can take a Gondola ride to the top for lunch at the cafe - followed by a pleasant stroll to one of the many panoramic viewpoints. Nevis Range also host the Mountain Bike World Cup each June.
The nearest village, Spean Bridge, is a 5 minute drive and has a handful of bars, shops and restaurants - incuding the AA award winning Russell's. Spean Bridge also has local forest trails and famous landmarks, such as the Commando Memorial.
There are also a number of local bars and restaurants on the banks of Loch Lochy as you head north - including a floating pub at Laggan Locks. A local taxi service is available for easy access to these, although the nearest - Letterfinlay Lodge - is only a short walk in the summer months.
Another 15 minutes from Spean Bridge takes you to the Fort William - the Outdoor Capital of the UK. Here you will find retail shopping, as well as car, bike, and even canoe rental - plus of course access to Glen Nevis and Ben Nevis.
