Riverside Cottage, near Jedburgh (all facilities) in the Scottish Borders, must be everyone’s idea of what a picture book, roses-round-the-door cottage should look like – mellow, detached, peacefully situated, with even a stream running past the enclosed garden.
It stands on a quiet country lane, with off-road parking and secure storage for bikes etc. Inside, it is bright, spacious and very comfortably furnished, the sitting room with open fire and the dining room with wood-burner to complete the cosy atmosphere.
From here you can explore all the delights of the historic Border country. Nearby Jedburgh boasts its ruined Abbey, jail and Mary Queen of Scots’ House. There is wonderful walking in the Cheviots and Border Hills, world class mountain biking at Glentress and, of course, the riding and fishing for which the area is famous. Both Edinburgh and the Berwickshire coast are within an hour’s drive.
