Accommodation: 1 bedroom, 1 double (sleeps 2)
Once a former croft house, Rum View is a beautifully renovated property for two in Tarskavaig, south Skye. Named after the island you can see from the windows, the stone property was built in the 1830’s as a family home beside Peter’s Cottage, which sits nearby. Rum View has now been restored to a very high standard throughout. When entering the property, you are immediately drawn to the traditional wooden beams that run across the ceiling and the exposed stonework around the windows. The stunning contrast between old and new is created through the installation of the contemporary mezzanine kitchen and the modern furniture throughout the property. The sleek, blue-coloured kitchen units contain all of the necessary appliances and equipment. There are two areas where you can sit to have a meal – one of which seats six people, which is ideal for hosting dinner parties if Rum View has been taken with the neighbouring Peter's Cottage. The bedroom downstairs has large patio doors that looks onto the garden.
The southern peninsula of the Isle of Skye has some magnificent views of numerous Scottish islands, including Rum, Eigg and Canna. There are many activities to participate in during your stay here – from yacht trips to museum visits, there is something to suit everyone. Explore the area on foot and go on nature walks, or take the time to explore the ancient Dunscaith Castle in Tarskavaig that was once home to the MacDonald clan.
This property is ideal for couples seeking the perfect romantic and remote getaway, or for family holidays where separate self-catering accommodation for grandparents or grown-up children is required.
