Sandilands House has five en-suite rooms, two bedrooms on the ground floor, one twin beds the other suitable for 3 persons and 3 double bedrooms on the first floor. All of the rooms are non-smoking and have tea/coffee facilities, irons and ironing boards hairdryers shoe cleaning utensils and mini fridges and Digital flat screen Televisions. Guests are given keys so they can access the Guest house during their stay. There is free WiFi connectivity throughout the house and free car parking on the driveway for Guests cars. BREAKFAST TIMES
Breakfast is served from 8am -9am in a wood panelled dining room with an original oak floor. Full Scottish breakfast with vegetarian and continental options. The breakfast is served at individual tables set with Royal Doulton china and silver plated cutlery. Our breakfast is prepared on an Aga cooker al fresco. Scottish breakfast consists of Eggs, fried scrambled, poached or boiled, bacon, sausages, tomatoes mushrooms and potato scone. Beans can be added if required. We also cater for vegetarians and vegans by request. Fresh fruit,preserved fruit, cheese slices, cheese portions, yogurts, cereal selection. Tea {many varieties} coffee, bread choices and fruit juices.
Guests will find it easy to visit Edinburgh from the Guest house either by walking into town which will take approx. 15- 20 minutes or by a 10 minutes bus ride into Edinburgh to visit the Castle, all City attractions, Murrayfield Stadium , Royal Botanical Gardens, Zoological gardens, Edinburgh Airport can also be reached by Bus and Tram or taxi, which can be reached in 20 minutes.
PLACES OF INTEREST NEAR THE GUESTHOUSE
In the immediate area just 5 minutes walk from the Guest House are the Dean Art Galleries and the Scottish Gallery of modern art. Both of these Galleries have gift shops and cafes and gardens. From these galleries you can walk along the water of leith walkway to Stockbridge for Restaurants, Pubs and interesting shops. On Sunday there is a Farmers market in Stockbridge which sells interesting fresh food and drinks etc.
Craigleith Retail centre is about 400 yards from the Guest House. It has a Restaurant , Supermarket, Takeaways, Chemist and two Coffee shops etc. The shops open every day and quite late some of the days. You can also access the Leith Waterway from the retail centre.
PLACES OF INTEREST IN EDINBURH
Edinburgh Castle is a historic fortress which dominates the skyline of Edinburgh from its position on the Castle rock. It was recently voted top UK Heritage Attraction in the British Travel awards and it is Edinburgh,s one attraction. The Castle if open the whole year round,
The Royal Botanical Garden in Arboretum Place Edinburgh EH3.5NZ is open daily from 10.00am – 5.00pm from March to September and from 10.00 until 4.00pm in the winter months. The gardens capture the imagination of visitors. There are over 70 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. It is about a 25 minute walk from the guest house.
The Royal Yacht Britannia is docked in the port of Leith. It gives a unique insight to the yacht and of the importance to the Royal family for over 40 years. Ocean terminal has many shops cinemas and restaurants. While leith itself has some of the best sea food and Michelin starred restaurants. There is free car parking available.
The National Museum of Scotland is situated in Chambers street near the Castle. It is one of the 20 top UK visitor attractions and is one of the most visited museums in the world.
Edinburgh Zoo is the home of over 1000 rare and beautiful animals from around the world and is home to the UK’s only giant pandas and koalas. The Zoo parkland is just 10 minutes from the city centre Edinburgh and it recognised as one of the worlds leading Zoos.
Places to visit outside Edinburgh
Falkirk is an interesting place to visit while in Edinburgh. It is 23 miles by car but there are frequent trains and buses which will take you there in 30 minutes
The Falkirk Wheel is a unique boat lift connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the union canal. There are also plenty of interesting walks and a play park of children in the same are.
The Kelpies are the largest equine sculptures are also in Falkirk. Drive for one mile/childrens park and car parking. The visitor centre is open from 10am to 5pm 7 days a week.
Fife and St Andrews Royal Golf Course.
There are excellent road and bus transport links to here from our location which assistance is offered.

Intercity bus and coach trips are available from our bus station at St Andrew Square. Additionally there are 2 highly popular private couch tours available with pick up from our Guest House. These coach tours cover many routes throughout Scotland with the Highlands Tour visit the most popular, departing am and returning pm.
