Situated on Grimsay Island, North Uist, Western Isles, this cosy, traditional, self-catering cottage stands in its own grounds with delightful views to loch, hill and sea. It is the perfect base from which to explore stunning white sandy beaches, machair and moorland.
Overlooking a pretty waterlily loch, named after its wild duck population (Loch nan Lach), Sealladh Eabhal was my home until I was twelve years of age. It was built by my father and grandfather circa 1955 from local stone and recently renovated keeping some of its original features and the four outer walls intact.
This comfortable accommodation comprises 2 double bedrooms [1 with ensuite toilet] and 1 twin room, living room with multi-fuel stove, fully equipped kitchen/diner, bathroom. There are newly installed digital electronic radiators throughout.
The kitchen opens onto a secluded patio with wild moorland views. Guests may enjoy beautiful sunsets in this tranquil space. Grimsay has very little light pollution and the cottage is in an ideal location for dark night enthusiasts. Fabulous views of the Milky Way and the Northern Lights can be seen from autumn onwards.
Children over 5yrs welcome. Sorry we regret no pets and no smoking in the accommodation.
