Voortrekker has unspoilt breathtaking views across the South East side of Shetland, right from the comfort of each unit. We have a stunning local beach just a short drive by car or an easy walk through Levenwick or a ramble across the fields. Our 3 in-house units are all self contained with own private patio entry. Unique, newly, self built property using local historical reclaimed materials, making it a warm and homely place to stay. Each unit comes complete with everything from spices to washing up liquid so food and drink is all that needed.
Built in 2016 (read our story), our unique handcrafted self-catering units boasts unspoiled views over the Southpunds (read more), Levenwick bay across to Sandwick and the island of Mousa famous for its iron age Broch. On a clear day one can see as far north to the cliffs at Noss and Bressay. On the east side of the island we enjoy spectacular sunrises, extraordinary skylines from the western sunsets and on wild, windy days crashing waves over the cliff tops. From the units you will be able to gaze across the marshlands which provide a natural habit for the wild bird life and maybe spot the odd Orca. Experience the tranquillity of "Walking the Southpunds" wild clifftops with full exposure to Shetlands rugged terrain. Shetland offers some of the finest walking in Europe, at all times of the year. The combination of spectacular coastal scenery on both North Sea and Atlantic facing cliffs, quiet inland lochs, and gentle heathery hills is unsurpassed. Shetland is very much a community island and the warmth of it's people make this island a special place to visit.
