"Luckily we saw the sign by the road, and landed in luxury. Food was excellent!" Gun & Thomas (Sweden)
The lodge is situated close to the famous Smoo Cave and dates from 1790, but incorporates the earlier 17th century house of Murdo Lowe, an Orkney merchant who traded from the geo (inlet) at Smoo. It is set in nearly two acres with beautiful dry stone walls enclosing private guest parking, garden areas and a paddock facing the sea that is set aside for nature.
The lodge has recently been lovingly refurbished throughout and is furnished to a high standard, with every room exquisitely designed & fashionably styled, beautifully synthesising the original features and unique character of this beautiful old stone-built house with contemporary comfort, decor & soft furnishings. A variety of stylish and comfortable rooms are available, all with central heating, en-suite shower or shower & bath facilities, sumptuous Hypnos beds, luxury Egyptian cotton bedding & towels, cosy goose feather down pillows & duvets (hypo-allergenic alternatives available on request), TV and WiFi .
We are passionate about offering our guests delicious and hearty meals, with the emphasis always on quality, variety and healthy eating. The diverse breakfast menu features Scottish, Continental & Korean dishes, using locally sourced fresh ingredients and home cooked food where possible. Evening meals are also available upon request at time of booking.
Rooms are available from £130/night and we offer discounts for single occupancy and stays of two nights or more. Options include Classic King size Doubles, a spacious Superior Twin/Super King size Double and our most exclusive Deluxe Super King size Double room.
House policies - sadly the property is not suitable for children under 12 or pets, and is of course a no-smoking environment, although guests are welcome to smoke outside in the garden.
"Food was amazing and the house a real northern palace full of warmth." Brahm & Niki (Edinburgh)
