Externally, there is sufficient parking for 2 cars per lodge and a large turning area. The amenity space, which is enclosed by a dry stone dyke, includes a lawn to the front with a picnic bench for each lodge, where you can enjoy the beautiful sea views, and watch the seabirds on the cliff face across the voe. Looking south, you can see the island of Mousa, an RSPB nature reserve, and home to an ancient iron age broch.
To the rear of each property there is another picnic bench where you can enjoy the evening sun, and the magnificent views across open farmland to the hill of Hoofield.
Situated in the village of Cunningsburgh, the lodges provide a rural, yet very central, base for exploring the islands. Lerwick, the capital of Shetland, is less than 15 minutes drive from the lodges. Sumburgh airport is approximately 15 miles by road to the south.
There is an abundance of wildlife in the area including seabirds, seals, and occasional otter sightings. The Mousa Boat, which provides trips to the nature reserves of Mousa and Noss, leaves from Sandsayre pier, a 5 minute drive away. The Sumburgh Head nature reserve and visitor centre is also within easy commuting distance.
