This spacious and very comfortable holiday home has a very central situation on the island between Bowmore (2m,shops, pubs, leisure centre, distillery) and Bridgend (1m, hotel) so it is within staggering distance of the pub! It is an imposing and substantial whitewashed farmhouse standing in 2 acres of its own grounds at the head of a small inlet of Loch Indaal.
Inside, the house is warm, with oil-CH, and very well appointed. Perhaps its hub is an enormous modern, well-equipped dining kitchen beyond which is an additional utility room (itself as large as many a respectable kitchen). The cosy living room has an open fire, and up the elegant curved staircase there are four bedrooms and a bathroom. From the upstairs windows there are superb views over the loch.
The house is sheltered on two sides by mature woodland, with open farmland behind. Outside, there are stables and outbuildings, a riding arena, and a dog run; a raised lawn forms an ideal play area for children. Springbank’s position also makes it an ideal spot for animal lovers and the bird watchers who come to enjoy Islay’s unique avian life.
The heady (!) range of distilleries on this small island is another principal attraction. You can also golf, walk and cycle, and a day trip to neighbouring Jura, the Island of Deer, should not be missed.
